10 Fun Things to do This Summer In Winchester, VA

Share Post:

With summer upon is, the kids have been out of school for a few weeks and you might be starting to go a little stir crazy.  There are so many things to do in the area, here are some of our favorite things to do in the area for simple day trips and different things to try to keep them (and yourself) entertained.

  1. Downtown Walking Mall – Take a few hours on a hot afternoon and visit the Walking Mall in Old Town Winchester and go to the Splash Pad.   It is open daily, Sunday through Thursday 10:30 am to 11:00 pm and Friday and Saturday from 10:30 am to 12:00 am (fun for adults too!).  There are also a lot of cute stores to stop into and of course, there is always yummy treats only steps away.
  2. Benny’s Meleto’s Pizza – Have you tried this new local pizza place?  If not, this is just an adventure waiting to happen.  They offer up slices bigger than your head!  (the whole pie is 28” wow!)
  3. Winchester Library – They have activities for the kiddos and they even have a summer reading challenge that offers prizes!
  4. Museum of the Shenandoah Valley – They currently has a large Lego display going on through the summer.  The kids will enjoy checking out the massive creations.
  5. Shenandoah Summer Music Theatre – For the kids that love music and acting, they have several different musicals and events happening.
  6. Jim Barnett Park – Offers a great playground that the kids won’t tire of going to.  They also offer many other amenities, make sure you get there at least once this summer.
  7. Movie Fun – Take a trip to The Alamo Drafthouse or the local Family Drive-In movie theaters, several new kids movies are very popular this year.
  8. Bowling – See who may be offering discounts for day trips to the lanes.
  9. Hiking – There are so many different trails around, go for a hike in nature, visit the beautiful Shenandoah Park, the Blue Ridge Mountain trails, Rose Hill Trail and many more.
  10. Polka Dot Pot – Get create your own artwork.

There are so many things to do, whether it is taking a day trip somewhere or finding something out of the box to do at home that you don’t normally do.  Make the most of the summer by trying something new.  We know the importance of family and any time you can get in a little extra bonding time, do it.  These are some of our favorites, if you have something else you do as a family, shoot us a note and let us know what we missed.  We love trying new things in our family.  With 4 kids, we are always looking for something new to try.
